Privacy Plus Carpet Underlayment looks and installs just like regular carpet pad, and it’s a real soundproofing product! The benefit provided is real floor soundproofing under carpet and a great feeling carpet floor at the same time.
At just over 1/2” thick, you can use Privacy Plus Carpet Underlayment for any new or existing carpet installation without any complications. In remodels just take up the existing carpet, put down our soundproofing carpet pad and either reuse the carpet you have or install new carpet. Like every one of our floor underlayments, Privacy Plus Carpet Underlayment is designed for Luxury Rated Results, we do not think you should settle for average results.
Floor soundproofing requires two things; reduction in footstep noise (impact noise) by absorbing the vibration at the point of impact, and reduction of sound traveling through the floor (airborne noise) from voices, TV, kids, etc. Many products for under carpet are not heavy enough to create real privacy; when comparing the weight of Privacy Plus Carpet Underlayment remember it weighs 1 pound per square foot, regular carpet pads are measured in weight per cubic foot. So, our carpet underlayment weighs 27 pounds per cubic foot. That is heavy enough to create real privacy!

Privacy Carpet Pad, with a combination of mass loaded vinyl and recycled carpet padding, is the most effective product available for footstep noise. The impact of your weight on the sub floor is what causes footstep noise; a click, click on hard floors and a thump on carpet floors. Because we have sandwiched the MLV between layers of carpet padding you will get a firm feeling under your feet, and the vibration of your footsteps will not reach the plywood or concrete sub floor.
Privacy Plus Carpet Underlayment is available in several weights on custom orders; for Home Theater or Studio projects we suggest you consider a product that weighs 2lb/sqft (54 lb/cuft).
