Floated Floor on Lightweight Concrete

floated-floor-insulation-gypcrete-thmbIn this scenario you have a much heavier floor, and the ability to block airborne noise from up and down is greatly improved. When installing a wood floor over the lightweight concrete you can use 1/8" PRIVACY ULTIMATE UNDERLAY™ for reasonable footstep improvement, and 1/4" PRIVACY ULTIMATE UNDERLAY™ for the best outcome.

* Gypcrete is a brand name for lightweight concrete; in most cases they offer a sound isolation pad to be used under the product. This pad can cost more than $1.50/sqft, and if not installed perfectly it can really perform poorly. We prefer products like ours that absorb impact noise where it happens.
