USING QUIETCLIPS IN YOUR CEILING
For measurable reduction in both Footstep and Airborne noise we have to make a fundamental change in the way floors and ceilings interact. The problem is that everything is screwed together; no matter how many layers there are, no matter what kind of high priced insulation is used, it is all still screwed together.

New and innovative designs, QuietClips are the perfect product for your next project. Obtain higher STC results, at a low installed cost. More
The single most effective product available to break this "screwed" connection is our QuietClips.
When you are willing to remove the old ceiling, or are starting from scratch, we have the opportunity to create a much needed mechanical separation from up to down. Using QuietClips, with a standard 7/8" hat channel, you will be able to attach new sheetrock to a floated metal channel rather than the bottom of the floor joist.

Common sense tells us this is the best possible situation; vibration from footsteps and airborne noise from above cannot travel through the structure in either direction. One or two layers of sheetrock can be installed with our clips; you do not have to add any extra clips with 2 layers, you need only use a 20 gauge channel. Drywall furring channel is locally available, if you have any questions about sourcing the channel call us, we will find it for you.
One final upgrade is possible for your soundproof ceiling; we can use Green Glue between the two layers of sheetrock. Even at one tube per 32 sqft you will get a noticeable result when sound isolation clips are combined with Green Glue.

GREEN GLUE CEILING
You do not have to tear your ceiling down to make it better, much better actually! Green Glue is the only soundproofing product designed to be used over existing walls and ceilings. While Sound Isolation Clips are the best option, Green Glue alone can provide measurable reduction in both footstep noise and airborne noise too.
The only thing required with Green Glue is that it must be used between two layers of hard material; wood, OSB, sheetrock, etc. It is that simple; just install a new layer of sheetrock, regular old sheetrock from Home Depot, and before you screw it up, squirt two tubes of Green Glue, in a random pattern, on the face of the new layer.
Occasionally when the existing conditions are bare minimum construction; no insulation, hard floors, and 1/2" sheetrock, we suggest two new layers of sheetrock and Green Glue between both layers. The great thing about Green Glue is you can do just one layer, and then if you are not completely happy, just do another.

IMPROVE YOUR CURRENT GRID/TILE CEILING
Basement renovations, office spaces, even mixed use commercial spaces all present challenges that sometimes make a suspended grid ceiling the only choice. Mechanical ducts, plumbing and wiring conduits, uneven joist, and sloped joist are several reasons where hiding what's there is the best option.
Grid system ceilings are too light to help in the creation of privacy between spaces; the only traditional options are very expensive ceiling tiles with sheetrock as the backer, or foil backed tiles which are touted as high performance noise blockers but really aren't even capable of bare minimum STC ratings.
Many times the suggested solution is 6" of fiberglass insulation; give that a try when you have a hardwood floor overhead, you won't be happy.
For real privacy, you need a real solution and real soundproofing products.

A Better Drop Ceiling Soundproofing Solution
There are two simple steps to make your grid ceiling much better at blocking noise; add fiberglass insulation, which is part of a good system, and then add our UL Rated Soundproof Barrier on top of the insulation.

At 1 lb/sqft, Soundproof Barrier will provide both the weight that is missing, and a flexible, durable, proven product to keep noise from above out.
If needed we can fabricate individual Noise Barrier Ceiling Tiles for you; these will install over your existing ceiling tiles, or with new affordable tiles, to create the privacy you want from a ceiling.
